The fastest and easiest way to link your 11-digit National Identification Number to your line/sim card is to use the airtel nin code. Though there is another method, but using a ussd code is the best.

When I say cheap, I mean, you don’t need internet access and a PC or smartphone if you use this method. All you need is a mobile phone of any kind, insert the airtel sim you want to link into it, and follow the steps outlined later in this write-up.

As stated earlier, ussd code is just one of the ways to do this, another cool way to do this is using the NIN page on the Airtel website.

The website method requires a smartphone and internet access but you still don’t have to leave the comfort of your bed to complete the process too. You also need your number, if you don’t have it memorized, here is a guide on how to check your airtel number in Nigeria.

Airtel NIN Code and How to Use it

To link your NIN to your airtel number, dial *121# with the airtel number you want to link >> Reply with 1 for NIN Capture >> Enter your 11-digit NIN number and tap the Send button. Wait for a few seconds and you will see a pop-up message informing you of successful or failed linking.

If the submission is successful, there is nothing left for you to do as airtel will handle the remaining process but if you see an error message, wait a couple of hours and try again.

How to Link NIN Using Airtel Website

Visit airtel.com.ng/nin
Enter the airtel number your want to link and click on the Proceed button
You will receive an OTP on that airtel number
Enter the OTP alongside your 11-digit NIN number, accept the terms and conditions and click on Proceed
You will see a pop-up message telling you of successful submission.

Code to Check Your NIN Number on Airtel

Dial *346# with your airtel line >> Reply 1 to confirm 20 Naira airtime deduction for the service or Reply 2 to Cancel >> If you choose to continue, the 11-digit NIN number will appear on your screen.

Final Thought

Before you attempt to use any of the above methods, you must already have a NIN number. If not, go to any NIMC enrollment center near you and register for it.

You can get your slip that same day. If for some reason such as too many people or network, you couldn’t get it the same day, go back the next and it should be ready and all you have to do is pick it up and follow the steps above to link your airtel line to it.
