Most of these plans come with a very high call rate and after the Talktime calculations, they are not that better than the plans that don’t come with a bonus at least for making calls.

Airtel Tariff Plans That Give Bonus on Recharge

Airtel Smart Connect: Gives an 800% Bonus on all recharge from 100 Naira and above.
Airtel Talk More: Gives a 500% Bonus on all recharge of 60 Naira and above.

As you can see, there are currently 2 call plans on the Airtel network that you can receive a bonus on every time you load airtime.

On Airtel smart connect, your main account contains your exact recharge value and 300% is in your voice bonus account and 400% is in your data bonus account.

As for the Airtel Talk more plan, you will have to buy a bundle with the lowest costing 60 Naira (you get 300 Naira airtime value) and the highest costing 3000 Naira (you get 15000 Naira airtime value).

The call rate of airtel smart connect is 75 kobo/sec for the bonus account and 25.6 kobo/sec for the main account to call local networks in Nigeria.

Airtel Talk more, on the other hand, has a call rate of 60 kobo per second to call all local Nigerian networks and to 5 selected international countries which include the US, UK landlines, India, China, and Canada.

After the Talktime calculation of airtime that can be used to make calls including the bonuses;

With 100 Naira airtime recharge, you will be able to talk for 13 minutes and 10 seconds on smart connect.
100 Naira bundle on talk more tariff will allow you to make local calls for 13 minutes and 53 seconds.

Final Thought

Even with all the bonuses, the Talktime calculation reveals that they are not much of a better tariff plan than the likes of Airtel Smart Talk and SmartTrybe plans which both have a Talktime of over 14 minutes.

But we should all remember that 400% of smart connect bonuses are for data and you can call 5 international countries on the Talk more plan at the same call rate for local calls.

Also, when you are on smart connect, you get to enjoy a 100% data bonus for 3 months after your sim card became active.
