Glo 11 Kobo Per Second (k/s): Migration Code and Call Rate

I don’t need many words to tell you that Glo 11 kobo per second has one of the lowest call rates on the network making it one of the telecom giant’s best call tariff plans.

Over the course of this write-up, I will discuss all you need to know about the 11 k/sec plan from how to migrate to it, its call rate, caveat, talk time calculations, and if it is worth the hype.

These days, when telecommunication companies in Nigeria announce a new tariff, it is usually filled with numerous mouth-watering offers on the surface and it is only when you dig deeper that you know it’s just hype.

You will start to realize that there are hidden details such as daily access fees and call rate, that when factored in, the plan isn’t that impressive.

The 11 Kobo/sec plan is by no means a complicated tariff but it comes with one of those hidden details I was talking about. But even as that, it is still one of Glo’s best call plans.

The limitation of the 11 k/s plan is the following:

There is a daily fee of 7.17 Naira which will automatically be deducted after the first outgoing call of the day. It won’t be deducted if there are no outgoing calls and you won’t be able to make calls if you have less than 7.17 Naira as your balance.

How to Migrate to Glo 11k per Second

Dial *311#. Migration is free except you have already migrated at least once in the last 30 days in which case you will be charged 100 Naira.

Glo 11 Kobo Per Second Call Rate

Calls to Glo line and all other networks in Nigeria including mtn, airtel, and 9mobile are charged at 11 kobo per second.

So, let’s do some talk time calculations using the above call rate for different recharge values.

  • 11 kobo – 1 second
  • X – 60 seconds

X = 660 kobo.

But;

  • 1 Naira – 100 kobo
  • X – 660 kobo

X = 660 / 100 = 6.6 Naira per minute

100 Naira Recharge

After the Daily fee = 100 – 7.17 = 92.83

Talktime = 92.83 / 6.6 = 14 minutes 4 Seconds

200 Naira Airtime

After the Daily fee = 200 – 7.17 = 192.83

Talktime = 192.83 / 6.6 = 29 minutes 13 seconds

300 Naira Recharge

After the Daily fee = 300 – 7.17 = 292.83

Talktime = 292.83 / 6.6 = 44 minutes 22 seconds

500 Naira Recharge

After the Daily fee = 500 – 7.17 = 492.83

Talktime = 492.83 / 6.6 = 74 minutes 40 seconds

1000 Naira Airtime

After the Daily fee = 1000 – 7.17 = 992.83

Talktime = 992.83 / 6.6 = 150 minutes 26 seconds

Okay, 1000 Naira airtime is a lot, and let’s say you were not able to exhaust it in a single day, what will the talk time be after 2 or 3 days.

  • Talktime after 2 days = 1000 – 14.34 = 985.66 / 6.6 = 149 minutes 20 seconds
  • Talktime after 3 days = 1000 – 21.51 = 978.49 / 6.6 = 148 minutes 15 seconds

That is just about 1 minute of Talktime you will be losing every day that you do not finish your airtime.

Final Thought

Even with the daily fee of 7.17 on the first outgoing call of the day, you will still be able to talk with anybody on any local network in Nigeria for 14 minutes.

Also, considering the fact that you will only be losing about 1-minute Talktime every day that you didn’t finish your airtime, makes the daily fee is not as bad as it sounds.

There are no extra benefits such as recharge bonuses or data benefits on this tariff. Just the cheap call rate and it is only for local calls. International calls are charged at their normal rates.

So, if you make a lot of calls locally in Nigeria, then glo 11 kobo per second might be just the call plan for you.
