Glo Yakata Tariff: Migration Code, Data Plan, Bonus and Call Rate

You might want to try out Glo yakata if you make a lot of calls to other Glo numbers as a Nigerian subscriber. It gives massive bonuses that can be used to make both on-net and off-net calls and you will also get data bonuses.

But, the recharge bonus on its own isn’t really anything to be excited about until you know what the call rate is. Which is unfortunately on the high side for Yakata.

When you migrate to this plan, there are 5 bundles you can choose from and all of which come with 6 different accounts (3 for voice and 3 for data).

  • Your main account contains your recharge value
  • On-Net (Glo to Glo) account contains 300% of your recharge value
  • All-Net (Glo to all networks) account contains 200% of your recharge value.
  • Data benefit account can be used to browse all websites
  • Social benefit accounts can be used to browse only social media sites which include Whatsapp, Facebook, and Twitter.
  • Data benefit on the first recharge of the month account can be used on all websites but you will only get the bonus for 6 months.

The 5 available bundles cost 100, 200, 500, 1000, and 5000 Naira, and below are the benefits that come with each of them.

Dial *230#. Migration is free except it is not the first time you are changing your call plan in the last 30 days which will then cost you 100 Naira.

Glo Yakata Call Rate

You will be charged 70 kobo per second to call all local networks in Nigeria.

Let’s do the Talktime calculation and see how long it will take you to exhaust each bundle while making calls.

Before we do that, let us first convert the call rate to Naira per minute from Kobo per second.

  • 70 kobo – 1 second
  • X – 60 seconds

X = 60 x 70 = 4200 kobo per minute.

But,

  • 1 Naira – 100 kobo
  • X – 4200 kobo

X = 4200 / 100 = 42 Naira per minute

100 Naira Plan

  • Main: 100 / 42 = 2.38 minutes
  • On-Net Bonus: 300 / 42 = 7.14 minutes
  • All-Net Bonus: 200 / 42 = 4.76 minutes

Total Talktime = 14 minutes 17 seconds to call another Glo number and 7 minutes 8 seconds to call all networks.

200 Naira Plan

  • Main: 200 / 42 = 4.76 minutes
  • On-Net Bonus: 600 / 42 = 14.28 minutes
  • All-Net Bonus: 400 / 42 = 9.52 minutes

Total Talktime = 28 minutes 33 seconds to call another Glo number and 14 minutes 17 seconds to call all networks.

500 Naira Plan

  • Main: 500 / 42 = 11.9 minutes
  • On-Net Bonus: 1500 / 42 = 35.7 minutes
  • All-Net Bonus: 1000 / 42 = 23.8 minutes

Total Talktime = 59 minutes 15 seconds to call only glo numbers and 35 minutes 42 seconds to call all networks.

1000 Naira Plan

  • Main: 1000 / 42 = 23.8 minutes
  • On-Net Bonus: 3000 / 42 = 71.4 minutes
  • All-Net Bonus: 2000 / 42 = 47.6 minutes

Total Talktime = 142 minutes 48 seconds to call only Glo numbers and 71 minutes 24 seconds to call all networks.

5000 Naira Plan

  • Main: 5000 / 42 = 119.05 minutes
  • On-Net Bonus: 15000 / 42 = 357.14 minutes
  • All-Net Bonus: 10000 / 42 = 238.10 minutes

Total Talktime = 714 minutes 17 seconds to call only glo numbers and 357 minutes 8 seconds to call all local networks in Nigeria.

Final Thought

With the Talktime calculations above, it is clear that Yakata is a plan for only those that intend to make Glo to Glo calls. This is why it is one of the best Glo tariff plans for calls without even trying.

The Talktime for all networks is just not worth it. If you are looking for a plan that is good for both calls and data, then you should check out berekete.
